Rethinking Financial Research
We started valequrione in 2019 because financial research felt broken. Too many people were making critical investment decisions based on outdated methodologies or, worse, gut feelings dressed up as analysis. Our team spent years working in institutional finance, and we kept seeing the same problem: solid research principles existed but weren't accessible to the businesses and individuals who needed them most.
Based in Orange, we've built something different. Not a consultancy that disappears after delivering a report, but a research partner that helps you understand what the numbers actually mean.
Why We Do This
Financial research shouldn't be a black box. When someone hands you a 60-page report full of jargon, what are you supposed to do with it? That's the question we kept asking ourselves before starting valequrione.
Our approach is straightforward. We use quantitative methods when numbers tell the story clearly. We apply qualitative analysis when context matters more than spreadsheets. And we always explain our reasoning in plain language because research that can't be understood isn't useful research.
The work varies. Sometimes we're analysing market trends for a property developer trying to decide where to build next. Other times we're helping a manufacturing business understand their cost structure compared to competitors. Each project is different, but the principle stays the same: rigorous analysis explained clearly.
How We Work
Financial research isn't one-size-fits-all. Here's what we bring to each project, though the specific mix depends on what you're trying to figure out.
Data Collection
We gather information from public databases, industry reports, and proprietary sources. The challenge isn't finding data anymore - it's finding the right data and knowing what to do with it once you have it.
Pattern Recognition
Statistical tools help us spot trends and outliers. But numbers without context can mislead as easily as inform. We spend time understanding what makes your situation unique before drawing conclusions.
Clear Communication
A research finding that sits unread in someone's inbox might as well not exist. We present insights in formats you can actually use - whether that's a detailed report, a brief summary, or a working session where we walk through the findings together.

Dr. Elspeth Kilbride
Director of ResearchElspeth leads our research methodology and oversees major projects. She spent eight years in institutional investment research before moving to Orange in 2018. Her background includes econometric modeling for a Sydney-based investment firm and academic work in applied statistics.
What sets Elspeth's work apart is her ability to translate complex quantitative analysis into actionable business insight. She's published papers on financial forecasting methods and regularly presents at industry conferences, but she's equally comfortable explaining regression analysis to a room of small business owners.
"Good research isn't about showing off technical sophistication. It's about answering the question your client is actually asking, not the one you wish they'd asked."
